[ GLOSSARY DEFINITION ] Durability

IP68

Ingress protection: dust-tight (6) and submersible to 1.5 m+ for 30 min (8).

Also known as: Waterproof IP rating IP67 IP68 water resistance

Full Definition & Technical Explanation

IP68 means dust-tight and water immersion beyond 1 m (the maker specifies depth/time). Found on most flagships as Waterproof: IP68. Tablets often list Waterproof: No instead.

IP67 is 1 m for 30 min; IP54 is splash-only. IP ratings assume fresh water at rest — salt water and pressure are a different story.
