Shading Units

The parallel processors inside a GPU that do the math for each pixel; more = more GPU power.

Also known as: Shader Cores CUDA Cores Stream Processors Shaders

Full Definition & Technical Explanation

Shading units (also shader cores, CUDA Cores on NVIDIA, Stream Processors on AMD) are the GPU's parallel processors. See Shading units: 1280 in GPU specs.

More units = higher raw performance, but architecture and clock matter too. Compare across the same architecture family.
