Compression formats for video (H.264, HEVC, AV1); AV1 is the most efficient for streaming.

Also known as: H.264 H.265 HEVC AV1 VP9

Full Definition & Technical Explanation

Video codecs compress video files/streams. SoCs support H.264, H.265 (HEVC), AV1, VP8/9, Motion JPEG. Hardware decode (especially AV1) saves battery on streaming platforms.

See Video codecs in SoC specs. Newer codecs mean smaller files at equal quality.
